All children of compulsory school age have the right to full time education and it is a parent’s responsibility to ensure their child’s full attendance at school.
At Chapel Green School we aim to maximise attendance rates in order to ensure that all students are able to take full advantage of the learning experiences and opportunities available to them.
Regular attendance is key to optimal progress and enjoyment of learning. It is for this reason that Chapel Green School provides a consistent practice that encourages and facilitates the regular attendance of all pupils. We are committed to ensuring our attendance policy is adhered to as rigorously as possible.
2016-17 Attendance was 91.4%
If your child is not able to attend school due to sickness, please contact the school before 9:10am with a reason for your child’s absence.
Sickness and diarrhea:
Is school policy for pupils and staff not to return to school until 48 hours after the last symptoms.
We are strict with this procedure because of the contagious nature and the risk to other vulnerable children.
If your child needs to attend a special appointment please contact the school office or inform the class team.
Special absence requests:
New amendments to the Pupil Registration Regulations from the Department of Education that come into force in September 2013 make it clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Bearing this in mind families are strongly urged to avoid requesting special leave or taking family holidays during term-time. If circumstances are exceptional, the Headteacher and chair of governors may grant leave of absence.
Requests must be made directly to the Headteacher in writing at least 3 weeks in advance of the leave being taken. In cases of unforeseen circumstances such as family illness or bereavement special leave can be granted immediately at the discretion of the Headteacher.
A form requesting special leave absence is available from the school office
Chapel Green School recognises that there may be times where children of different faiths observe religious festivals that fall outside of school holidays.
Authorised absence will be allowed for these times
